The door sensor and smartlock in my shop work perfectly even though the base station is 100-120 ft away inside the house. But overall the system itself, doorbell, smartlock and indoor cameras works as intended. The one thing I can't give an option on is the outdoor camera because I haven't got one yet.

They sent me another one free and received it just a few days. CS had me go through a few troubleshooting steps and decided it needed to be replaced. After working fine for months it started to only work half the time. The second issue I had was with the smartlock. CS sent one free and I received it in just a few days. Had to replace the t-mobile cell module with the Verizon module due to no t-mobile service in my area. I've had a couple problems over that time but customer service was very helpful and polite. Sounds like simplisafe would work for you. I'm probably moving to Arlo (depending on reviews) once they have their product for sale īut really, check out all of the other options - Abode, Cove, ADT Blue, etc because buying this stuff. Their recent monthly price hike made them pretty much the most expensive plan in the states and they don't have any features the others to not. I'm paying Arlo for outdoor cameras just because I want working cameras outside. Their outdoor cameras are pretty much garbage. I've got them kind of working on my own because support has been less than worthless. Their tech support was less than worthless through the process.Īlthough I have the motion sensors working "better", they still go off randomly a couple of times a month. I finally got the doorbell working by gutting everything in the circuit and replacing it, even though a Ring was there prior and worked fine. I'm going to take the other end here - Simplisafe is one of my most regretted purchases. Then you can purchase additional sensors to complete the package individually.

Costco has a good one, and so does Best Buy. The sooner an intrusion will sound your alarm (vs. Sensors can be expensive if you need a bunch of them, but I think it is worth it to cover the access points of your home. The more traditional systems like ADT, Ackerman, etc will require wiring. You will not have to wire your home for any of the DIY system. I looked at a lot of the DIY systems when I bought my house (including Blue by ADT, Scout, Abode, Cove, Ring) and ultimately decided on SimpliSafe because it had the best combination of sensor/devices I wanted and had them in stock when I needed to order. You might even be able to get additional discounts for other sensors some security offers, like leak detection. Some insurance companies offer a discount for having any sort of audible alarm, some require it to be monitored. If you're unsure of if you want monitoring, check with your homeowner's insurance on discounts for security systems. I second the other commenter that first decide if you want the system monitored/able to dispatch police.
